FUN!
And thanks to funding from the Mountain Shadows Foundation CARE Program, our Riverside gals were livin’ life right at the Happiest Place on Earth, Disneyland! |
MSCH – Riverside resident, Madison, and Residential Coordinator, Solluna Baez. |
“We specifically made this a Girl’s Day Out!” says Amber Anderson, MSCH-Riverside, Residential Coordinator (RC). “The three of us, Solluna, Chanavia and myself, we’re already a good time. So, we make sure the residents have a good time too! It’s like a party everywhere we go. We make it great!”
“The residents just need somebody who makes them feel loved. I love all of them! Seeing them happy, providing a sense of normalcy in their lives – that’s the best part. And nothing compares to Disneyland. They all had an amazing time. They were so happy!“

“We saw several parades,” adds Chanavia Johnson, RC. “The characters in the parades just love our residents. They come over and show their love!
“Being able to do this for the residents, and show that we care and want to give them the best experience, it’s really heartwarming.” |

“For some of our residents, it was their first time going to Disneyland,” says Solluna Baez, RC. “It’s the Happiest Place on Earth, right? Who doesn’t want to experience that?
“We started the day with the Tom Sawyer boat ride. We got so many smiles during that! It was really special.
“Trips like this are so beneficial for our residents. It’s good to see them so happy! I look forward to more trips like this.” |

“The residents’ faces just light up,” adds Chanavia. “One of the best parts of the day was a visit to Mickey and Minnie’s House. The residents watch these characters on TV every day. And to see them in person was so exciting! It was just such a great moment. Our hearts were all just so warm. It was so beautiful.”

“Not every company is putting the effort in, and taking the time to plan things like this for their residents,” adds Amber. “Mountain Shadows, they care for the residents. I do love that.
“At Mountain Shadows, it’s like, ‘How are all the things we’re doing affecting the residents?’ It’s like, ‘Where can we take them that they’ve never been?’ Mountain Shadows wants to make sure they have the memories of special days like this.” |

“I just care for the residents so much,” says Chanavia. “We’re here with them 24/7. We become their family. I enjoy seeing their faces every day. They know who we are. I enjoy that. I can be having a bad day, but when I come in and see them – all that goes out the window.
“They love me like I love them.” |

“The residents are people just like we are,” adds Chanavia. “They shouldn’t be limited – not from Disneyland, or from anything else in this world, just because they are in a wheelchair, or they can’t speak. “Mountain Shadows shows a lot of care for the residents. We live off that name, ‘Because I Care’. And Mountain Shadows really lives up to that name.” Our Riverside girls just wanna have fun! And thanks to you and your support of the Mountain Shadows Foundation CARE program — they did!!! |
