“Spring is the whimsical wanderer, blooming beauty along her path.” ~Angie Weiland Crosby
Whimsy and beauty bloomed upon the path of San Diego and Riverside residents recently, during visits from the Spring Bunny – and it’s all thanks to our generous Mountain Shadows Foundation CARE (Creating Active Recreational Experiences) donors.

Residents sprang to life upon seeing the Spring Bunny.
Says Gloria Mederos, Activity Director, MSCH-San Diego, “All of the residents were really happy to see the Spring Bunny. They just love to have visitors.
“In most of the homes, all the residents got together. They were so excited to be together, and we took many group photos. That was special for them.” |

Adds Ruth Hill, Member, Board of Directors, “The residents really enjoyed the Spring Bunny visit. They all enjoyed it, no matter their age. They all loved it.”
Ruth assisted during the Riverside visits. “The little fellow, Justin (top photo), he really responded to the bunny. He was really happy. He wanted to look into the Easter basket – and he wanted to pull everything out, of course.
“There was a big bubble wand in the baskets. Justin loved it and was using it as sword.” Gloria agrees, “Justin was just bouncing around, laughing. He was so happy!”

“Let your joy burst forth like flowers in the spring.” ~Unknown
Wherever the Spring Bunny hopped, joy followed.
Adds Ruth, “I have to say the Spring Bunny was the best! He was so cheerful, so good with the kids. He was just really, really thoughtful. He got right down on his haunches, right by the little ones on the floor, and those in their wheelchairs. He didn’t stand over them. He got down right at eye level with them. The kids enjoyed his presence, that’s for sure.” |
MSCH-San Diego resident, Jesus, shares a laugh with Spring Bunny. |
“Jesus Perez, a Mountain Shadows Bus Driver, volunteered to be the Spring Bunny,” says Gloria. “He did a really great job.” |
MSCH-San Diego resident, Stephanie, with Spring Bunny. |
“The staff that came from our San Diego campus did a great job,” adds Ruth. “They were up at the crack of dawn and in Riverside before 9 am!” |
Riverside residents, Miguel and Justin, share good times with the Spring Bunny. |
“Riverside resident, Miguel, was looking a little grumpy when we came in,” says Ruth. “But once the Spring Bunny came in the house, his whole attitude changed. I was very pleased. This really helped him get out of the doldrums.” |

“Spring is painted in daffodil yellows, robin egg blues, new grass green, and the brightness of hope for a better life.” ~Toni Sorenson For some residents, like Justin, the Spring Bunny brought out a sense of wonder and a bit of mischief. For others it was a time to join together as family. For all, it was a time of laughter and smiles.
It is our wish, through the Mountain Shadows CARE program, and activities like this, that all of our residents may find within the Spring Bunny’s magical basket, a shining hope for a better life. |
