Carol Haskin has been actively involved with Mountain Shadows for over 25 years. As a parent of a resident at Mountain Shadows Community Homes-San Diego (MSCH-SD), she first got involved after her son Michael had been living there for a couple of years. During the first two years her focus was on Michael and taking him home every weekend, she soon came to realize that she could contribute more to his well-being by acting to benefit Mountain Shadows as a whole. She wanted to make the environment that best it could be for all residents.
The difference she has made has been tremendous. Utilizing her business acumen and dynamic spirit, she has spearheaded efforts to increase community, financial, and family support for Mountain Shadows. Over the years, she has continued to be an integral part of nearly all Mountain Shadows activities. She continues to play “Santa” every year by purchasing and wrapping gifts for all 123 of the MSCH-SD residents for the Mountain Shadows Foundation sponsored Santa in the Park.
Now retired after working in various businesses with her husband, including running a photography business, Carol enjoys traveling, and a love of gardening runs deep in her family. Inspired by her grandmother, both Carol and her sister share this passion. She loves how it is an on-going process, and the product changes every year.
Mountain Shadows is grateful to have Carol as a member of the Board of Directors. It is the dedication and caring shown by people like her who make a big impact in constantly improving and guiding the changes of Mountain Shadows for our residents.
