Rev Up!!!
11th Annual Biggs Harley-Davidson Ride for Mountain Shadows |
Biggs Harley-Davidson – just across the street from Mountain Shadows in San Marcos, CA |
Eleven years ago, Howie Wahl, Director of Marketing & Public Relations, Biggs Harley-Davidson, noticed the Mountain Shadows buses going in and out of Mountain Shadows Outreach Services. Curious about all the activity, he went over to say hi – and, soon after, the Biggs Harley-Davidson Ride for Mountain Shadows was born! |

Says Howie, “We love Mountain Shadows. The thing that I get a kick out of, and I know our employees do, and our customers, and even total strangers do, is the excitement from the folks at Mountain Shadows. Folks like Kenny (Mountain Shadows resident and Mayor). They show up, and I mean, you can see it. You can just see that they really look forward to this day. It really shows!”

Continues Howie, “We had a lot of great vendors there, lots of food, raffle prizes – and the Ronnie Lee Band! The lead singer and lead guitar player is Ronnie Lee. She used to play for Joan Jett! She tours all over the place now and wanted to do us a favor. She wanted to do it for Mountain Shadows and charity. She just wanted to be a part of it.”

“Biggs Harley-Davidson has been doing their ride for Mountain Shadows for many years,” adds Cecilia Bello, Director of Ancillary Services, Mountain Shadows. “The riders are always so happy to participate. They always say how incredibly awesome it is, what we do.” |

“One of the highlights is seeing the residents having so much fun,” says Frank Salas, Program Manager, Mountain Shadows Outreach Services. “Residents Annie, Colleen, and Vivian were dancing to the music. One was playing the air guitar. Vivian was clapping. And, you know, when they hear the roar of the bikes, their faces just light up.” |

Adds Cecilia, “A big highlight for the riders is going to the Mountain Shadows Community Homes campus. The residents all come out to see the motorcycles, and everyone can interact. The residents get so excited! Everyone has a great time.” |

“Biggs Harley-Davidson is committed to being actively involved in our local community,” says Howie. Eleven years ago, when he saw the Mountain Shadows buses coming and going by Biggs Harley-Davidson, Howie didn’t know what Mountain Shadows was, but he started waving at the bus drivers as they went by every day. When Howie toured the Mountain Shadows facility not long thereafter, the foundation for a long-lasting relationship formed.
“As I toured the facility, I started thinking, “What a great place! These people are angels on earth.”
It is our belief that angels do exist on earth – just across the street from Mountain Shadows – at Biggs Harley-Davidson.
Thank you, Biggs Harley-Davidson, for your support, and for being our Earth Angels on Wheels. |
