Behind Every Mask is a Story: The Mountain Shadows Masquerade Ball |
At a Masquerade Ball, a mask can temporarily transform the face,
but the individual’s true spirit always shines through. |

By Sheryl Wilde An air of mystery and intrigue filled the night at the recent Mountain Shadows Masquerade Ball. The Ball, hosted by the Mountain Shadows Morale Committee, serves the Committee’s mission, which is to craft events for Mountain Shadows Family members – residents, staff, family, and friends – to gather, socialize, and enjoy themselves. In addition to the Masquerade Ball, the Morale Committee orchestrates numerous community events throughout the year, including Trunk or Treat, Casino Night, Summer Olympics, Mardi Gras Parade, and others. “We want everyone to have the time of their life and create core memories,” says Brittin Parker, Senior QIDP/A, and Committee Member. |

Costumed in sequined, hand-decorated masks and boldly elegant colors, residents shared an evening celebrating their uniqueness and unity. |
Entertainers bedazzled partygoers with enchanting dances and enthralling juggling performances. |
Residents, Eve, and Carol. |
As music wafted across Mary Triplett Park, residents swayed and tapped to the beat – some dancing an inspired wheelchair waltz. |

Residents mingled, enjoying an evening outdoors and a delightfully delicious array of desserts. |
At the Masquerade Ball, our residents socialized, as a community, while laughter echoed through the crisp night air!
As with everything we do at Mountain Shadows, the Masquerade Ball was an occasion to revel in the beauty of our differences. |

At Mountain Shadows, we believe that even behind a mask, the truth of who our residents are, shines through brighter than any costume. The story of who they are is a tale that speaks not of disability, but of ability. A tale of strength and courage in the face of any challenges. And a tale of the celebration of the indomitable human spirit that lies beneath the masks. |
