Biggs Harley-Davidson 9th Annual Poker Ride for Autism Benefits Mountain Shadows

by Sheryl Wilde

“Seeing the joy in everyone’s eyes is the best part of the Annual Biggs Harley-Davidson Poker Ride for Autism,” says Howie Wahl, Biggs Harley- Davidson. “It’s priceless to see!

“We’ve been doing the Ride for Autism for 9 years. And we’re really looking forward to the 10th year.”

Thanks to the generosity of more than 70 riders, Biggs Harley-Davidson raised $2,000 for Mountain Shadows.

“We love supporting our local community,” adds Howie. “The people at Mountain Shadows are angels on earth.

“We always make a stop at the Mountain Shadows campus in Escondido during the Poker Ride, so all the riders can meet the folks there.”

Adds Toni Albright, Human Resource Director, Mountain Shadows Support Group, “Many of the riders say the best part of the event is riding through the Mountain Shadows community. The residents are all outside, and when the riders come through, they’re yelling and jumping up and down. The residents love it! And seeing the excitement on the residents’ faces was the best part of the whole ride for the participants.

“They were just so touched by the residents. When the ride was finished, the riders were just beaming! It was a really, really good day.”

“There are certain things all people should experience in life,” continues Howie. “One of them is to visit places where people do good things for others. That’s Mountain Shadows. They all – everyone there – has such a big heart.”

From the bottom of our big hearts, the entire Mountain Shadows Family gives thanks to Biggs Harley-Davidson, and all of the riders, for their continuing generosity and support!
